McKinley Insurance Services Hosts Reception for FMU President
$41,000 Raised for University

(Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) - Leaders in business and education gathered recently at the Tower Club to honor Dr. Henry Lewis, III, who was appointed the 12th president of Florida Memorial University (FMU) in November 2010. The event was hosted by McKinley Insurance Company, whose President and CEO Ralph Campbell praised Dr. Lewis for his "Vision 2020" plan for South Florida's only historically black university. Campbell also announced a $10,000 pledge to support the school's ambitious plan for the future.
"We're proud to support FMU and honored to help the university gain more awareness in Broward County as it expands its campus here," he said.
Autonation's Vice President Gale Butler then stepped forward with another pledge for $10,000 a year for three years to fund scholarships.
Businessman John Ruffin, vice chairman of the FMU Board of Trustees, rounded out the evening's contributions by announcing a $1,000 donation from a church in Georgia. Broward College President David Armstrong also offered support for the university, pledging to find ways the two institutions can work closer together.
Dr. Lewis, who previously served as dean and professor in the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Florida A&M University (FAMU), shared his outlook for the school by saying, "My vision as president of FMU is to make it a world class university. FMU will move from good to great."
The FMU Broward campus is located in Lauderdale Lakes. More than 2,000 students are enrolled at both FMU campuses.

to Help Feed Children This Summer.
Champion for the Hungry Marti Forman to be Honored

(Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) -- Many children look forward to summer vacation, but to more than 40 percent of the children in Broward County’s public schools, summer means going without subsidized meals. In an effort to fill that gap, LifeNet4Families (formerly Cooperative Feeding) is hosting a unique event called the “Filling Empty Bowls Luncheon.” It will be held on Monday, June 6, 2011 at the First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall on 401 Southeast 15th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, 33301. Tickets are $25 and include lunch and a keepsake ceramic bowl decorated by artists and volunteers in the community. Marti Forman, former CEO of the Cooperative Feeding Program, will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award. The menu will include a selection of soups and bread.

McKinley and Care Access Join Forces to Promote
Health Care Benefits for Part-time Staffers

(Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) -- McKinley Insurance Services, Inc., a benefits consulting firm, and Care Access Health Plan, a provider of affordable health care coverage for companies and individuals, have joined forces to provide its health benefits coverage to part time employees.
The new program allows staff members, who would normally not be able to access health coverage benefits, the chance to purchase affordable plans for themselves and their dependents. The packages, which start as low as $69 a month per person, include Care Access large network of primary care physicians, specialists, urgent care centers, diagnostic facilities, prescription drug and vision and hearing benefits, all with no deductibles in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties.
